Clean Sweep

Just as I was about to pull up the draft of this week’s blog post, there was a flicker.   I most likely reacted and the next thing I knew…Clean Sweep.  Whatever my previous brilliant draft had to offer was history!  I am taking that as a gift.  Whatever, my earlier thoughts were are not as useful as what wants to surface right now.

In addition to that awareness, I also know that in some very specific ways it’s important to have a clean sweep right now.  How about you?  Two signals for why it is important for me to clear things up are, first, my memory banks are clogged enough that I didn’t remember the major content of my earlier post.  Generally, that is not true even when the draft is a week old.

Secondly, a clean sweep is in order because my file drawers are hard to put new information into; they are crammed. What’s exciting about this “information overload“ is that there are reasons for it that I can name.  First, I haven’t taken time to clean out my files for a couple of months, secondly fresh inspiration has been flowing in, and as a result, I am writing more than usual. Third, health and business requirements have led me to do considerable research which has added fresh bulk to my files.   So, where from here?

  • Make a hard copy of anything that I definitely don’t want to lose.

(Some organization experts may have a few different suggestions, and I would be delighted to hear from them!)

  • Decide what is important NOW.  Much of the research I am doing, and perhaps you. too, is critical to making current decisions for my business and my health.  That may result in projects I was working on earlier being relegated to pending files rather than operative ones.  This sorting process gives me a chance to check on what’s true for me and to track my progress with my most important goals/intentions.
  • Is there something else for me to pay attention to?  To answer this, I slow down, tune in and observe the response in my body.  The mind is far too busy to provide a useful answer right then.  What comes up is, “Trust yourself to be resourceful in the moment.”

So, let me know about a useful “clean sweep” that has occurred for you recently or that you have initiated.

P.S.  As I was finishing this post and titling the intoduction to it, the theme of the last one surfaced so you are very likely to get it next week!  Ah, the benefits of letting go!
