In a continuation of our discussion on Cleaning and Clearing Practices, I moved to include the physical a couple of weeks ago. I find that as the year comes to an end and the activities for the holidays accelerate I can either take time to clear out the old or get buried under it. One practice that I adopted some time ago that serves me well when I follow it is to throw out or recycle nine things every day. What freedom that provides as I stand before the stack of new mail!
This last week I got some additional tips on “Clean and Clear” from Coach Katy Lynch ktdid39r@aol.com whose business is E2, Energy Squared. She not only helped me restore peace and serenity to my office and other areas of my home but she also helped me build a game plan that will insure that the peace and serenity remain. First I have a “staging” space for receiving mail each day. From that place I sort to determine (1) what requires immediate action (2) what goes into the “action later” file, (3) what will be read later (business and personal), and (4) what coupons to save.
The next key step is to put time on my calendar for each of those activities. As I am about to do this, I realize how little time I set aside prior to the Second Half of life for "maintenance." I am geared as a doer and like to keep in action. It has only been in the last few years when the guidelines of coaching with its “conscious creation” plus my spiritual practices and exploration that I have learned that BEING can powerfully impact the quality of my doing.
So, if I am to BE organized for peace and serenity, I will want to take those actions that reflect those priorities. I am sharing this with all of you, in part, to hold myself accountable to implement these new behaviors to BE organized!
So, what in your life is calling for cleaning and clearing?
What will be the costs as well as the dividends? What is your plan? What ELF support or otherwise will you get to follow up on your plan?
